Your Shopify transfers, costed
Shopify transfers mirrored into Stockie, costed at the value that actually moved between locations.
Shopify stays the system of record
You keep creating transfers in Shopify. Stockie mirrors them so they can be reported on and valued alongside everything else you buy and count.
- Read-only by design. Stockie requests read access to transfers, shipments and received items, and nothing more. It does not write transfers back.
- Status derived from movement. A transfer with shipments in transit is in progress even when Shopify's own status field still reads ready to ship, so the list matches reality.
- Shipment-level detail. Partial receipts show on the lines and shipments, in the same place Shopify shows them.
| Line | Qty | Avg cost |
|---|---|---|
| Waffle Throw · Oat Received 60 of 60 | 60 | $31.53 |
| Linen Tee · M In transit | 124 | $11.94 |
What the stock was worth when it moved
A transfer shifts value between locations. Valuing it at today's cost rather than the cost at the time misstates both ends.
- Valued at the time of movement. Where a weighted average cost exists at the moment stock moved, that is the value captured, not the cost today.
- Captured once, then frozen. A captured cost is not overwritten by later refreshes, so a report you ran last quarter still reconciles.
- Honest about what it cannot know. Movements from before Stockie started watching are marked as historically uncosted rather than being given a number that would look authoritative and be wrong.
Movement and value between locations
The transfers report covers what moved, when, and what it was worth, at transfer and line level.
- Two levels of detail. Report on whole transfers, or drill into individual lines.
- Exports. CSV and PDF exports on individual transfers, plus CSV and XLSX on the report.
Common questions
Why is this in beta?
It is being rolled out gradually while we validate the costing behaviour against real stores. It is free and included on Pro Plus. Ask us if you would like it turned on for your store.
Can I create transfers in Stockie?
Not today. Stockie mirrors what you create in Shopify. We deliberately did not request write access for a feature that only reads.
What happens to transfers from before I installed Stockie?
They are mirrored, but movements that predate our cost tracking are marked as historically uncosted. We would rather tell you a number is unknowable than invent one.
